Case Study - Acorn Stairlifts

Acorn reached out to us with a brilliant idea but needed help making it happen. They aimed to create an app for their sales team – a tool that showcased their stairlifts to clients. The unique part? The app would follow the same path as the client's stairs.

Our team put on their thinking caps and came up with a plan. We figured video was the way to go. We asked to borrow their demo unit and got Gareth on the lift. Using a 'Green Screen,' we captured the action. Here's how we turned that into something amazing:

Next, we tackled the task of calculating the various stair and lift configurations. After careful consideration, we determined there were 96 unique combinations.

With these details in hand, production kicked off.

The following video showcases raw footage from one of our filming days. You'll notice that we opted for a 'Blue Screen' due to color palette conflicts between the chair and a 'Green Screen'. The screen in the backdrop, measuring 8 x 5 meters, was then the UK's third-largest green/blue screen – Gareth verified this.

To capture authentic movements, we enlisted an actress to navigate the lift. After three weeks and over 500 rounds of traversing, she was well-acquainted with stairlifts!

Observe that we conducted the filming within their factory, as audio posed no concerns for this particular project.

So, after an intensive three-week filming period, accompanied by the craftsmanship of a skilled joiner for set construction and a proficient stairlift fitter for real-time assembly, our mission was accomplished. With filming wrapped up, the focus shifted to the realm of editing.

Through meticulous editing sessions, the project took its final shape, resulting in a curated collection of videos that beautifully encapsulated the starting points, the transitions, and the culminations.

These videos were carefully integrated into the app's framework. This ingenious approach allowed salespersons to evaluate the unique stair layout of potential clients. By selecting the appropriate configuration, the app seamlessly weaved the recorded footage together, presenting an accurate depiction of the stairlift in action. And that's not all – as the following video demonstrates, the app also highlighted the stairlift's comprehensive safety features.
